Approach to leadership
I have 18 years of experience leading groups through professional instructional systems design. I treat the people I work with as adults. Roles and responsibilities are shared. I do not hold the design alone. The team names the performance problem, the learner need, and the business need together.
The process stays sequenced: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Objectives are written to Bloom’s taxonomy so the level of learning is visible and can be assessed. Evaluation is part of the work so we know whether the intervention helped people perform.
From a leadership seat I keep two outcomes in view at the same time. The instruction must favor the learner so they can execute on the job. The same work must favor the business so the organization sees a closed gap and a real opportunity. Technology is chosen when it supports that execution and that mission. When the gap is not a skill or knowledge problem, I steer the group toward a non-instructional intervention instead of forcing a course.
